The Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression is a Black-led, left-led organization by and for working and oppressed people. As such we include people of all races, genders, nationalities, sexualities, ethnicities, and religions, and we don’t tolerate racism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, ableism, or any other form of bigotry.
We ask members to share their pronouns to respect people's gender identities, and we expect members to use other people's correct pronouns. If you accidentally misgender someone, you should acknowledge the mistake, apologize, and use their correct pronouns going forward.
Statement on Leadership:
Every member and leader is subject to collective guidance.
There are no bosses in this organization. No one has the right to make you feel small or unimportant.
If anyone makes you feel unimportant, small, or is being disrespectful you can contact the executive committee or other people in the Alliance you are comfortable with.
Remain accountable to your capacity and your ability to sustain it.
Approach conflict with curiosity over judgement & as an opportunity to learn. Challenge ideas, not people.
Everyone’s voice deserves to be heard & respected.
Pause, embrace silence, evaluate urgency.
Spread the work! We are never working alone - always ask for support. If your capacity changes, let us know!
Move up, move back (with an eye for why; personal is political)
